We were contracted by the Alameda County Public Health Department to create a collection of materials for the full life cycle of new employees. Mid-project the county adopted a beautiful new set of brand guidelines, which we were able to incorporate into the videos, at no additional cost.
The first set of short videos was designed to be posted on LinkedIn and other social media platforms for recruitment. These 16×9 videos were meant to position Alameda County as a unique place to work, compared to other local Health Departments. They also highlighted the diversity of jobs within the department and the amazing people working in those positions.

In addition, part of our contract was to create an onboarding video. Instead, we recommended a series of shorter videos (3) that could be used within a Zoom meeting. That way new hires could watch some basics, interact with the team using the text chat during the videos, and then video chat with each other between videos. We’ve shared some animated gifs from the videos below, since they contain proprietary info. The videos incorporated scripted video statements from staff and motion graphics to create content that was more engaging than the powerpoints the department had used in the past.
Lastly we created a longer video that covered how the department applies the Incident Command System (ICR) to Infectious Diseases. Although ICR is primarily used in natural disasters and fire emergencies, it can be applied to outbreaks. Our team spent several months working with agency staff to write and re-write the script for this video, based on extensive materials from FEMA. Once the script was agreed upon, we realized that there was a lot of institutional knowledge held by staff who had worked on recent outbreaks including Covid, Measles, and M-Pox. So the final video incorporated scripted video statements, motion graphics, and selected moments from video interviews. We’ve shared some animated gifs from the video below, since it contains proprietary info.
